Dr. Bull Holland
Education Manager
Dr. Holland is the Director of Education at innovation company BMNT, Inc and an adjunct faculty member at North Carolina State University and Cochise College. His focus is on democratizing innovation and entrepreneurship by making the entrepreneurship course material taught at America’s leading universities available to everyone. Dr. Holland is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 23 years of service and a certified Department of Defense (DOD) Acquisition Officer.
Dr. Holland has helped design and foster numerous government innovation efforts.
He is the founder of Innovation Corps @ DoD, he designed and implemented the program as mandated in the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to mature and commercialize DoD Basic Research projects.
He also cofounded the Advancing Concepts Office (ACO) created in 2019 by the Army Research Laboratory. ACO integrates Army Concepts Development and Army ScientificResearch activities in order to keep the future Army at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge. Dr. Holland wrote the concept paper that initiated ACO and was with the office until he left for BMNT in 2022.
From 2015 until his retirement from active duty in 2019, Dr. Holland was the Military Deputy for the Army Research Office (ARO). There, he supported ARO's execution of over $180M of Basic Research annually by helping ARO Program Managers understand where their research programs could best support the Army’s needs.
Dr. Holland is also the Founder and former Division Chief of the Science and Technology Division, U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). Dr. Holland presented the concept for the Science and Technology Division, wrote the formal instruction to stand up the division and led the 12 Special Operations Soldiers and 2 civilians in the division for 2 years. The division successfully focused over 90 percent of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Science and Technology resources on USASOC needs.
Along with Dr. Mihan McKenna Taylor, Dr. Holland was co-editor of a unique edition of the Journal of DoD Research and Engineering (JDR&E) in which principal investigators published their findings about how different scientific disciplines would affect the future of how the Army conducts Terrain Shaping.
In 2024 Dr. Holland joined the Editorial Board of the peer reviewed journla, The Journal of Military Studies.
